Caribbean Secondary Schools Drama Festival for November

Just under 100 students from 8 Caribbean countries will gather in Trinidad and Tobago to share their art and vie for glory on a single Caribbean stage. The occasion is the 9th biennial Caribbean Drama Schools Festival which will take place November 1-8, 2015. 

The Jamaican contingent, who walked away with 11 major awards in 2013, including Best Overall Performance, Most Creative Presentation, and Most Outstanding Director (Akeem Mignott) will be making a return to the festival. Led Quindell Ferguson, Chair of the School’s Drama Festival, the team once again pulled together winners from the local competition. The team will deliver Aston Cooke’s Jonkanoo Jamboree, directed by Danar Royal. 

The Jamaicans will be competing against students from Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda,  Barbados, the British Virgin Islands,  Guyana, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago. The Caribbean Secondary Schools Drama Festival prides itself on being the region’s first and only arts exchange programme for secondary school students. 

Performances in Trinidad will take place at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts in San Fernando while there will also be performances in Tobago at the Shaw Park Complex.
